JSC Email Newsletter (62)-1JSC Email Newsletter (61)-1This is the story of two technologies destined to be together. Peanut butter and chocolate. Two great tastes, better together. I am talking about Motion Graphics and A/B Testing. But why now? Like any will-they-won't-they story, it's about timing and circumstance. Motion graphics: a $250B market in 2018, headed for $900B by 2034.

A/B testing: table stakes for every serious digital team. But for years they couldn't connect — animation was too expensive to produce at the volume testing requires, and testing platforms weren't built to handle creative as a variable. The production bottleneck just kept getting in the way.

What changed? Innovators like LottieFiles cracked the production cost problem — a lightweight format now used by 15 million designers, with AI tools that generate polished motion from a text prompt. And major ad platforms started baking experimentation directly into their infrastructure, adding AI to the mix to help it scale. Serendipity.

But one big question still remains: can animation deliver video-level results at a fraction of the cost? I think we owe it to ourselves to find out.

Today’s workflow is a testing framework for designers and marketers considering adding lightweight motion graphics to apps, UI and websites. With tools like Lottie innovating, there has never been a better time to test if animation can improve user experience metrics.

iotw head 1 When Google Optimize was sunset in 2023, it left a hole in the market for startups/SMBs to A/B test without convoluted setup or overly technical coding roadblocks. That hole has been filled by a new-ish venture called Mida. Combine lightweight Lottie templates with AI-led redesigns matched to your branding, and you have a full testing suite for animation, for a fraction of the cost of the enterprise-level tools currently available. This space opens up a whole new framework for resource-inhibited design teams.

Create custom animations that don’t weigh a ton on page load the way .gif and other formats do.

Build custom animations just by describing what you want.

Deploy to a test variant with a few clicks.

Go to LottieFiles.com and find a template you’d like to start from. You can use their suggested animations. They have categories like “text entry” and “loading screen” so you can easily find what you need.

Export the JSON to Claude (or your AI platform of choice). Describe the changes you’d like Claude to make. It can show them to you in a viewer as you go.

Next, upload the JSON file to your CMS, or have Claude wrap it in an HTML embed block you can paste directly into any page.

Lastly, onboard with Mida and start your experiment. The instructions and onboarding are dead simple--they give you a generous free tier and instructions for the whole thing. You can create a snapshot of your site and edit right within the UI. Create a control variant, drop your animation into the test variant and you’re off and running. No need for separate pages.

We talk a lot here about edge. A/B testing helped build UI, ads and creative for the most recognized brands on earth. And animation? It is a critical tool for today's top designers. Check out Lottie’s client roster if you don’t believe me. Animation sets brands apart. Knowing how much it can work for you starts with testing. And you finally have all the tools to do it, even on a small budget. So get to it!

We're on a mission! In 2026, JSC has a goal of a 40% mission-driven client roster. If you are a mission-driven organization, let's talk and see if you can take advantage of discounted rates and services in Q1 2026.  ➡️ Let's Talk ➡️
